So its that time of year again, the sun is out, the evening’s are long and you want to impress with your BBQ skills! And what better way than to share some fall off the bone BBQ spare ribs. With this recipe you don’t even need a BBQ, you can finish these off in a very hot oven or even under the grille!
For years I have been experimenting with getting a nice smokey flavoured sauce with the right amount of spiciness and sticky too and eventually I perfected it with my BBQ sauce. Marry this up to juicy meaty pork ribs, and you are on to a summertime winner!
Sticky and Spicy BBQ Pork Ribs
These sticky, sweet, smokey spicy ribs will be a hot at any BBQ you might think of having. Turn a humble rib into something that people will ask for again and again!
Ingredients
- Pork Ribs - 1kg
- Sticky, Hot and Spicy BBQ Sauce (recipe linked to this post) - 100ml
- Salt - 2 Tablespoons
- Peppercorns - 2 Tablespoons
- 2 Bay Leaves
- Enough water to cover the ribs by at least an inch
Instructions
Place your ribs in a large heavy bottomed Pot
Fill pot with water until it has come at least an inch over the top of the ribs
Add your Salt, Peppercorns and Bay Leafs
Place heat on High until water slowly starts to simmer
Bring down to medium so water stays at the slow simmer stage
Cover the top of the Pot with either a lid or kitchen foil
Check every 15 minutes and move ribs around inside the Pot, don't disturb too much as we don't want any meat falling off the bone
After about an hour remove the ribs and place on a rack
Baste the ribs generously with the sauce
Place on either a Hot BBQ, in very hot oven or under the grill for 5-8 minutes until surface starts to bubble and darken
Remove, serve and ENJOY!
Notes
This doesn't just work with Pork Ribs! Try it with Beef Ribs, Pork Chops, Chicken Thighs, Kebabs, Spatchcocked Chickens
